Dream Trip to the Seychelles

Profile picture (IMAGE 14) Our big adventure began on 29 October 2023. We booked all our self-catering accommodation, transfers and hire cars through SeyVillas and never once regretted it. We flew from Munich via Dubai directly to Mahé and had a relaxing flight. We received a very warm welcome on Mahé and were taken straight to the ferry. Booking the ferry’s so-called upper deck also worked perfectly, allowing us to enjoy the wonderful scenery during the crossing.

Praslin

When we arrived on Praslin, we were taken to our accommodation, Villa Aya. We received a very warm welcome. The cleanliness of the villas and the grounds really deserves a special mention. Thanks to the integrated kitchen, we were able to prepare our breakfast without any trouble each day.

Villa Aya, PraslinVilla Aya, Praslin We generally had lunch and dinner at one of the many excellent takeaways or at a restaurant. Our hire car was delivered directly to our accommodation the following day. We received an almost-new automatic Hyundai i10 and could not have imagined managing without a car. It gave us complete flexibility to explore all the dream beaches. We were absolutely delighted by Anse Georgette.

The beach was still completely deserted early in the morning. Arranging our visit with the hotel in advance by telephone also worked perfectly. For snorkelling, we liked the Petite section of Anse Lazio best. Petite Anse LazioPetite Anse Lazio We encountered a variety of marine life. We were particularly thrilled by the sea turtles and could not stop watching them. We had also booked two different tours before leaving home: a private island tour with Mario and a trip to the tortoise island of Curieuse, followed by a barbecue and snorkelling off St Pierre Island.

St PierreSt Pierre The tortoises were another of our highlights. They were all very trusting and, thanks to their complete freedom on the island, also very active.

The transfer to the ferry and the subsequent 15-minute crossing were once again superbly organised. We were taken directly to our accommodation, Elje Villa, and were even able to check into our room early in the morning. The guest house is in a great location. Everything is easily accessible by bicycle, and the ‘centre’ is only a few minutes away.

The bicycles were also arranged through SeyVillas and were waiting for us at the accommodation. Then we were off. We cycled straight to Anse Severe. I had read that a free-roaming giant tortoise lives there, and we found it right beside a small beach bar. The bar’s owners provide the tortoise with plenty of fruit. Who would not feel at home there? We bought ourselves a fresh juice and simply enjoyed the wonderful reggae music, the sea and the laid-back atmosphere.

La Digue is considerably more relaxed than Praslin. There are no cars on La Digue, apart from delivery vans, taxis and similar vehicles. We found this very pleasant. One absolutely idyllic beach on La Digue is Anse Patates. The water is a beautiful turquoise, the granite rocks look as though they have been painted, and the underwater world is wonderfully varied.

On a rather overcast and slightly rainy day, we visited the luxury hotel Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie despite not being hotel guests. External visitors can use the pool area for a fee, subject to availability. We had a very relaxing time and ate lunch at the hotel’s poolside restaurant. Of course, we also cycled to Grand Anse and Petite Anse . The waves were very high, and the beaches are not suitable for swimming, but they are still very much worth visiting. After spending 6 days exploring the entire island by bicycle, we were ready to continue our journey to Mahé.

Mahé

Unfortunately, we cannot say much about Mahé, as we only booked a hotel there for one night. We booked Hotel La Roussette near the airport on SeyVillas’ recommendation because our return flight departed very early in the morning. That was definitely the right decision. The hotel was also very clean and appealing, with a lovely, well-maintained little pool. We spent our entire final day there, reflecting on our trip. Conclusion We had a wonderful time despite the changeable weather and could not have imagined a lovelier holiday. We would book through SeyVillas again at any time and would like to express our thanks once more for the perfect organisation.
