Description:
Do you want to do more than just see the ocean during your holiday? How about jumping into the crystal-clear water just a few minutes from your accommodation? The "The Beach House (Chateau Martha)" offers that and much more besides! This about 100-year-old building was constructed in colonial times and is the epitome of a beach house with shimmering white and maritime blue, surrounded by a lush green tropical garden. Shops for self-catering, as well as restaurants, can be found within walking distance, and the absolute highlight of the area is the beach of Beau Vallon, which lies just 75 metres away. The white sand of this beach slopes in a shallow manner into the ocean, making it ideal for families and long beach walks. The beach itself is multiple kilometres long, and there are numerous leisure activities on offer along its length, from swimming and snorkelling to kite-surfing and scuba diving, to jetskiing and banana boats - Beau Vallon really has something for everyone. In the evenings, you can also enjoy stunning sunset views here that will light the sky up and bathe the islands of Silhouette and North in a unique display of colours. If that’s not enough, the area is also home to numerous bars and nightclubs for you to enjoy.
Tired from your journey or a day at the beach? Then the comfortable double bed of the "The Beach House (Chateau Martha)" will be a welcome refuge. Air-conditioning and mosquito nets ensure undisturbed dreams and a good night’s sleep. The house itself consists entirely of wood, while the walls are painted in a shimmering white colour. The floor is rather natural and finely-painted. Together with the blue colour accents and the lovingly-chosen decoration of shells and tropical flowers, the beach feeling from outside is also present inside your accommodation. Meanwhile, the large shower in the brightly-lit bathroom is ideal for freshening up and relaxing at the same time, ideal for your holiday!
Although you have a stunning beach right on your doorstep, the rest of Mahé is also worth exploring. The Seychelles capital, Victoria, is just 15 minutes away by car. Here, you can find a small market, as well as quaint shops and restaurants where you can rest or browse. If you prefer nature to cities then why not visit the Morne Seychellois National Park? From the "The Beach House (Chateau Martha)" you can reach this in around 45 minutes by car. From mangrove forests on the coast up to lush, evergreen jungle, or a boat tour or hiking tour alongside giant tortoises, the nature park has something for everyone!

We spent 2 weeks in Chateau Martha, which is only separated by a street on the northern part of Beau Vallon and is part of the Beach House, which offers a total of several B&B accommodations and a parking lot for rental cars. The pictures shown here are partly out of date as of May 2024, because there is now another overnight accommodation directly to the right of Chateau Martha and a new building is currently being built directly in front of Chateau Martha, which will probably affect the fantastic view of the sea from the terrace in the future. The construction site only emitted noise and dust on the last day (granite rocks were split). We were offered the opportunity to move for this time, but we did not take advantage of this as it was our last day. The equipment no longer matches the description: there were no hotplates, so preparing your own food was difficult. However, it was possible to order a very good and freshly prepared dinner (rice, fish, curry, salad and dessert) (had to be paid for separately), which we did often. Breakfast (was included) was served in a small building directly on the premises. This was also freshly prepared and very good (fruit, fruit juice, coffee/tea, pancakes or eggs). The chateau is well maintained and spaciously built in colonial style from wood, with windows, high ceilings, lots of doors and a few cracks through which geckos like to slip, and a corrugated iron roof that drums when it rains. :) The bedrooms are large, with well-functioning air conditioning, mosquito nets and comfortable beds. The bathrooms were clean, but did not meet European standards. Tap water should not be drunk. The kitchen was poorly equipped for self-catering (no cooking facilities, apart from a microwave and no pots or pans). The large refrigerator, however, was very practical. The terrace offered a beautiful view of the sea. The road in front of it did not bother us. The beach directly in front of the house is flooded at high tide, but just a few steps along the road (note: there is no sidewalk, busy and extremely narrow) you get to the large and long Beau Vallon. There are a few stalls, a mini market, a diving school, a car rental, a bus stop and a few restaurants within walking distance. You could always find a shady spot on the beach, swim well and enjoy wonderful sunsets, but in my opinion other beaches are better for snorkelling. There was a bit more going on at the weekend (but still very little), during the week you had the beach almost to yourself. The service in the chateau was very good, we were looked after warmly and our requests were taken care of. There was a very pleasant, friendly family atmosphere. If you had any questions, you were always given competent help. We were asked to lock all doors and windows when we left the house and at night, and there was also a night watchman guarding the house. We felt safe at all times, but there were often drunks and shady characters on the street in the evenings, especially at the weekend, and locals warned us to be particularly careful with our valuables on the beach, which we always did and so had no problems.
