Seychelles: A Waking Dream

We recently returned from a wonderful trip to the Seychelles: spectacular scenery, dreamlike beaches and unique surroundings accompanied us throughout our ten-day stay. Thanks to the support of the SeyVillas team, who gave us invaluable advice before our departure and provided efficient organisation throughout our stay, we can truly say that we had an unforgettable holiday.

Beau Vallon, MahéBeau Vallon, Mahé

We arrived in Mahé after a flight of around ten hours. The weather was not at its best, as a few drops of rain fell on our heads…but we did not panic! The occasional tropical downpour is perfectly normal, even in August! After leaving the plane, we received a warm welcome from the SeyVillas representatives, who immediately gave us all the information we needed for our stay, from transfer times to a map of the Seychelles islands.

Praslin

When we arrived at the magnificent Chalets Cote Mer, recommended by the SeyVillas team, we were welcomed at reception with fresh grape juice and a platter of fruit arranged in the shape of a star, all enjoyed overlooking the sea. We immediately felt as though we were in paradise!

We stayed on Praslin for 4 days, during which we visited Anse Lazio, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles, where coconut palms lean towards the sea and the water is such a crystal-clear blue that it almost seems unreal. We then visited Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or), the island’s main commercial centre, where you can find little shops selling souvenirs and sporting goods.

Thanks to an excursion organised by the hotel, we ventured to the small island of Curieuse in search of the giant tortoises – which we discovered were incredibly gentle – and fed them thick, fleshy green leaves.

Our day on the island continued with a visit to the tropical forest, home to all sorts of harmless creatures, including giant crabs, geckos, hermit crabs and giant tortoises. We then reached a gorgeous beach with sand as white and soft as talcum powder, where we waited for a fantastic beach barbecue! It was an incredible experience! The excursion ended with a dive around the beautiful islet of Saint Pierre, where the colours of the sky and sea are breathtaking.

La Digue

We travelled to La Digue on a very punctual and comfortable ferry…and it was MAGNIFICENT! Our equally punctual transfer took us from the harbour to our beautiful resort, Le Relax Luxury Lodge, located just beyond Anse Patates, a picture-perfect beach!

Bicycles are the main way to get around La Digue, so we reached the most beautiful beaches and explored the island entirely on two wheels! I must say that La Digue took our breath away. It is an island filled with the scent of the tropics, summer and holidays!

There are countless kiosks offering cocktails made with exotic fruit, coconut water and snacks by the sea, and you can find them around every corner. The centre of the island is very well kept and charming…a real little gem. Caribbean music accompanied our walks and bicycle rides, making us feel as though we were in a wonderful parallel world.

During our stay on La Digue, we visited Anse Source d'Argent, in the island’s protected area. It is a truly unspoilt paradise. When we arrived, we were amazed by the beauty of the beaches, the lapis lazuli colour of the sea and the expanses of white sand interspersed with rocks rising from the water like nuggets. Snorkelling is a must, and the marine life is incredibly rich, with brightly coloured, almost fluorescent fish.

We booked an excursion through the hotel to the islands of Félicité, Coco Island and Grande Sœur, travelling there by catamaran. It was a sublime experience! Once we reached the shores of the islands, we dived into the water to go snorkelling and enjoy the sunshine on the pale sand, sheltered beneath the broad fronds of palm trees curving towards the sea. On board the catamaran, we were served a delicious buffet of fish, meat and rice: a true taste of Creole cuisine!

Mahé

Our holiday ended on the main island, Mahé, at the beachfront resort Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay. This island is much larger than the others and boasts distinctly tropical flora and fauna. You can also admire breathtaking sunsets from Beau Vallon. We hired a car to seek out the island’s most secluded and beautiful beaches…and we did not regret it, despite having to drive on the left!

In the south of Mahé, you will find typical Seychellois scenery interspersed with small villages, each with its own centre, schools and shops. On the west coast, meanwhile, you can admire the sunset every evening. Many venues offer drinks and dinner while you watch the sun sink into the sea…a truly beautiful experience.

During our stay on Mahé, we visited the islands of Cerf and Sainte Anne, both just a few minutes from the harbour in Victoria. We were amazed by the strips of white sand dividing the waters and linking the islands to one another. Here, the sea is a shade of pale blue-white that we had only ever seen in adverts, and the islanders’ welcome was so warm that we immediately felt at home.

Thanks to the efficiency and punctuality of the services provided by SeyVillas, we were able to organise an unforgettable holiday. Trips like this remain in the hearts and souls of those who experience them, becoming indelible memories.
