The Most Beautiful Honeymoon in the World
Booking with SeyVillas
To celebrate our wedding in July, we made a dream come true and booked a trip to the Seychelles with SeyVillas. As it is not an inexpensive destination, we planned everything down to the last detail so that nothing would be left to chance. After plenty of research, it became clear that we did not want to set off on our well-deserved honeymoon in the summer, straight after our wedding, but would rather travel in October, when the Seychelles are relatively calm, the water is clearer and there is less seaweed washed ashore. With the help of SeyVillas, we were even able to choose the beaches we wanted to visit and book a hotel close by. We were incredibly impressed by how easy it was to put together our holiday using the website!
Praslin
Our first destination was Praslin, the second-largest island in the Seychelles. As we had booked the transfer package with SeyVillas, shortly after arriving on Mahé we took the ferry across without any problems, followed by a shuttle bus to our apartment, Cote d'Or Apartments. We were pleasantly surprised by how spacious the accommodation was, despite being quite reasonably priced compared with other options. It is also right beside Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or) beach, which we naturally went to see straight away, including our first swim, of course.
On our first morning, we got up especially early to watch the sunrise there. It was an incredibly beautiful sight.

The cash machine and supermarket were just as close as the beach, so we could stock up on food for breakfast and lunch. We always ate out in the evenings, and we can highly recommend ‘Le Laurier’ to anyone wanting to try a truly excellent Creole buffet. For us, the island’s absolute highlights were two places we could reach by bus: the dreamlike Anse Lazio beach in the north, where the sea really does shine as blue as it does in travel adverts, and the Vallée de Mai jungle park, where we booked a guided tour with the entertaining guide ‘Royal Black’. With great attention to detail, he told us all about the Coco de Mer and the native wildlife, and seemed able to show us something new every couple of steps. It was absolutely brilliant!

La Digue
The second island we chose was La Digue, which fairly quickly became our favourite. Compared with Praslin, where there are quite a few cars on the roads, almost everything here is done by bicycle, which we found very relaxing and a wonderful way to slow down. At the same time, the entire island was very easy to explore by bicycle. One fantastic experience was seeing a giant tortoise cross the road on our way home – apparently something completely normal here!

We can also wholeheartedly recommend our hotel, Etoile Labrine. The staff were very attentive, the apartment was spacious and comfortable, and everything was beautifully presented. As it was so stunning, we spent a total of three days at Anse Source d'Argent, where each day we enjoyed the beautiful granite rocks, turquoise sea and drinks at the Fruita Cabana Bar. On our final day, we also visited Grand Anse, which is equally beautiful but has larger waves.

Cerf
For our final destination, we chose the small island of Cerf. If you are looking for peace and seclusion, a day on the beach at Cerf is hard to beat. There are no roads here, just a small trail through the jungle to the other side of the island and, of course, the boat jetties. Of all the accommodation we have described so far, our room at Villa de Cerf was by far the most beautiful. We particularly loved the balcony, with its wonderful view of Mahé, where we enjoyed ending the evening with a glass of Champagne that we had received as a honeymoon gift.

The absolute highlight of this island was a snorkelling excursion with our skipper, James, who really knows the best places to explore the underwater world of the Seychelles. The view from the boat alone, looking out over the many small islands near Cerf, such as ‘Round Island’, made the trip worthwhile.

James also ‘dropped us off’ on Moyenne Island for a few hours so that we could explore it on our own. There, we took in the magnificent scenery, saw the many free-roaming giant tortoises and visited the two dream beaches, Pirate’s Cove and Coral Cove.
Sadly, our dream trip is now over, but almost every day we remind each other of how wonderful it was there. Just thinking about it immediately brightens our day! We hope to return to this paradise soon!
