We spent three weeks in the Seychelles in July 2019, visiting three islands – Praslin, La Digue and Mahé.
We spent the first 6 days on Praslin. After landing on Mahé, we received a warm welcome from Creole. A driver collected us straight away and took us to the ferry. After around 50 minutes, we arrived on the island of Praslin. We stayed in a bungalow at Cote D'Or Chalets, close to the beautiful Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or) beach. Bungalow at Cote D'Or Chalets
You could travel anywhere on the island by bus for 7 rupees (around €0.50). One journey of 15 minutes took us to Vallée de Mai. Vallée de Mai, Praslin
The park is like one enormous jungle, with lots of palms and the huge Coco de Mer coconut. There are takeaway places all over the island, and the food was always delicious. Takeaway
There are lots of little stalls on the beach selling delicious coconuts to drink and eat. One day, we booked a lovely excursion with Creole: a tour on a huge catamaran. Catamaran
We went snorkelling, ate on board and visited Curieuse Island with its giant tortoises. During a walk through the mangrove forests to the other side of the island, we learnt lots of interesting things. It was a brilliant day.
Our next island was La Digue. Once again, everything went really smoothly with the transfer and ferry. We stayed in the middle of the forest at Belle des Iles Guest House. It really felt as though we were staying in a tree house. You could get everywhere on the island by bicycle. We visited the beautiful Anse Source d'Argent. It is a very lovely beach with palm trees, powdery sand and enormous rocks in a park. Anse Marron, which can only be reached on foot, was also very beautiful.

We hiked there with a guide from Creole. It was an adventurous walk over and under rocks, across beautiful beaches, through the jungle and through the water. At the end, we reached the beach surrounded by rocks. The snorkelling there was absolutely amazing.
You could also snorkel at Anse Severe, which is just beyond the harbour. There were always between 1,000 and 4,000 fish there. The water is very shallow, even at high tide. Swimming with a turtle was incredible – wow! Tortoise
There was a colourful little stall on the beach where you could get delicious juices. Watermelon was always my favourite. Two giant tortoises also regularly came here to nibble on the fruit.
The ferry journey to Mahé was quite fun. By then, we already recognised a few people from the other islands and previous tours. On Mahé, we stayed at Romance Bungalows. Breakfast was delicious and, just like on La Digue, it was brought to us when we woke up. Directly opposite the bungalows was the long, wide Beau Vallon beach. Beau Vallon, Mahé
I recommend taking a tour with a guide who will drive you around the whole island. Up in the mountains, the guide tells you about the tea plantation and gives you a tour. We also stopped at a waterfall. During a short break, we went swimming at Port Launay North Beach. One day, we took the bus to Victoria, again for 7 rupees. The Sir Selwyn Selwyn Clarke Market was fascinating, with all its fish, fruit and vegetables. We had a delicious meal at the restaurant on the upper floor. Victoria Market
I really like Beau Vallon. It was a great place for swimming. Behind the beach, there was a long market along a footpath, with lots of food stalls. Street food You could get whole fish and lots of other food freshly cooked on the barbecue here. I always did a little exercise at a small open-air fitness centre on the beach. In the evening, there was a wonderful sunset. The Boat House on the beach served excellent cocktails for me and my parents. Next door, I always bought freshly made ice cream. Chocolate is my favourite.Sport at Beau Vallon
I had an amazing time on the islands. I saw lots of beautiful beaches, nature and wildlife. I swam with a turtle. I felt safe at all times, and the food from the takeaway stalls was always delicious...
