Description:
Guests wishing to stay in La Digue's 'best hotel' should look no further than Le Domaine de l'Orangeraie. This zen-style resort spans several acres and faces the sea, offering plenty of communal lounge areas and a variety of different villas. There are Garden Villas, which are dotted throughout the tropical garden, and there are the so-called Villas de Charme, situated on the hillside at the edge of the rainforest. These villas are slightly larger than their Garden cousins, and some come equipped with a private spa/temple and built-in jacuzzi. These villas are called the Villas de Charme (Elegance Superieure).
The resort offers more than spectacular accommodation. L'Orangeraie offers arguably the most extensive spa and fitness centre on La Digue, one that such rivals as the "La Digue Island Lodge" would even look at enviously. The first-class restaurant overlooking the sea is also a major plus-point, and offers a great space to relax in. Besides the restaurant, there are also sunbeds and outdoor furnishings provided for the purpose of relaxing overlooking the sea.
The photos of Le Domaine de l'Orangeraie really do speak for themselves, and anyone considering a booking should look no further than their beauty for inspiration. The stunning architectural style and upscale service of l'Orangeraie make it a unique prospect. Le Domaine consciously doesn't target self-caterers or independent travellers, but rather solvent, international guests, to whom it offers first-class service in luxurious surroundings.
There is the possibility to rent the bike, just in front of hotel, so that guests can explore La Digue fully, including some of the world's most beautiful beaches (Grand Anse and Anse Source d'Argent, to name but a couple). Those who'd prefer not to take a bike can make use of the hotel's taxi - the only one on the whole island.
