Dream Destination: The Seychelles
28 years after our honeymoon in the Seychelles, we returned to this paradise from 23 August–11 September 2023. This time, there were five adults in our group. We flew with Emirates from Frankfurt via Dubai to Mahé. As soon as we arrived, we felt the relaxed atmosphere of this island nation, which stayed with us throughout the following 3 weeks.
We spent the first 7 days on Mahé – Beau Vallon – staying in a guest house. From here, we went on various excursions. The long Beau Vallon beach was right on our doorstep.
While exploring the island by car, we stopped at various beaches to swim, snorkel and relax.

The Mission Lodge in the heart of Mahé impressed us just as much as a boat trip to Moyenne Island . Here, for the first time during our holiday, we encountered giant tortoises roaming freely, as well as a beautiful peacock.

We loved the rather secluded ‘Port Glaud’ waterfall
We took the bus to visit the capital, Victoria. It is a small, colourful city with plenty to take in: the Botanical Gardens, National Museum, market, Clock Tower and many other sights.
After a week, we continued by ferry to Praslin, where we stayed at the wonderful Bliss Hotel Praslin. The hotel rooms are set in a tropical garden, which is also home to around 10 giant tortoises that we fed with leftover fruit every day. We could also watch the green geckos, especially in the evenings.

A day trip aboard the ‘Oplezir’ catamaran, past the small rocky island of St Pierre and on to Curieuse, with a snorkelling stop and a stop off the fantastic Anse Georgette, became an unforgettable experience. The crew also created an incredibly lively atmosphere on board.
On a rainy morning, we went on a guided hike through the Vallée de Mai. During the 2-hour tour, our guide Derreck impressed us with his knowledge, and his cheerful mood was infectious.

Of course, we also tried to explore as many of Praslin’s beautiful beaches as possible. These included Anse Consolation, Anse Boudin, Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or) and the world-famous Anse Lazio.

La Digue was the third stop on our trip. Here, we stayed at Le Domaine de L'Orangeraie. It is rightly considered the best hotel on this magnificent island. We explored the surrounding area by bicycle, including L'Union Estate nature park, Anse Source d'Argent, Anse Severe and the north of the island.

To round off our dream holiday, we spent another 2 days on the small island of Cerf, situated in the heart of St Anne Marine National Park. Here, we had another chance to snorkel and enjoy some wonderful relaxation before setting off for home after almost 3 weeks, with smiles on our faces and tears in our eyes.

Our entire journey went smoothly, and at every transfer we were met by a member of staff from Creole Travel, SeyVillas’ local partner.
