Simply Enchanting

Hello everyone, we are Mara and Rosario, and we have just returned from a wonderful trip. The Seychelles are beautiful, and we visited three islands: Praslin, La Digue and Mahé. Each has its own unique character and will leave you speechless. This was not just a holiday, as we also celebrated our wedding at Anse Source d'Argent, the most beautiful beach in the Seychelles.

It was a picture-perfect setting that made our special day even more unforgettable. The entire trip, as well as the wedding, was organised through SeyVillas, who guided us through every decision and advised us on everything. They were truly efficient: transport, ferries, taxis, hotels and local assistance all lived up to our expectations. For the wedding, they helped us with all the paperwork and certificates, as well as practical choices such as the beach set-up, bouquet, photographer and so on.

Praslin

We left Rome and, after landing on Mahé, headed straight to Praslin. We chose to travel by ferry, which took us to our destination in about an hour. We stayed at the Pirogue Lodge hotel, and it was an excellent choice, particularly because of its restaurant. The food was delicious, with a menu ranging from Creole specialities to international dishes.

Its location was also excellent, as we were close to bars, supermarkets and restaurants and, most importantly, just 200 metres from Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or), a beautiful beach stretching for several kilometres. It was the first beach we saw, and it immediately immersed us in a stunning landscape of turquoise sea, palm trees and unspoilt nature.

For the rest of our stay, we decided to hire a car, as Praslin is quite a large island. One distinctive feature is that they drive on the left... but you get used to it after 5–10 minutes. It was the right decision, as having a car meant we could visit Anse Lazio (in our opinion, the most beautiful beach on the island). It is never crowded and is surrounded by palm trees and granite boulders which, together with the blue shades of the sea, make it a truly unique place. Near the beach, you will find giant tortoises that you can feed with leaves or fruit.

Its smaller sister beach is Anse Georgette, which is also located in the north of the island. You need to book in advance to visit the beach because access is private, but I must say it is well worth it. It may be the beach with the fewest visitors, but its charm is undeniable.

After asking some of the locals, who are friendly and helpful, we discovered another almost deserted beach, Anse la Blague, where the calm water deepens gradually. This beach did not disappoint us either, with its beautiful, vibrant colours.

Our stay on Praslin came to an end, leaving us delighted with all the places we had seen.

La Digue

We also reached La Digue by ferry, which takes just 15 minutes from Praslin. What makes this tiny island so distinctive is that everyone gets around by bicycle along roads overlooking the ocean, with breathtaking views along the way.

We stayed at the Patatran hotel, a lovely property with an equally beautiful beach. The restaurant serves a wide range of local specialities, and on Thursday they also put on a very engaging traditional dance show. Two friends were waiting for us on the island and immediately took us to Anse Severe, where we had coconut and fruit for lunch (we had never tried some of the varieties before, and they were delicious).

The island seems frozen in time, especially when you are cycling and come across tortoises in the road, as they are free to roam amongst people on La Digue. They allow you to come close and accept food from visitors' hands. They are particularly fond of melon and banana and are truly adorable.

The wedding

Then, finally, our wedding day arrived. For the ceremony, we chose Anse Source d'Argent, the most beautiful beach in the Seychelles: crystal-clear water, a coral reef, fish of every kind and size, a nature reserve with tortoises, and all kinds of plants and trees. In short, it is a place where nature reigns supreme. Everything was perfect, an unforgettable experience that exceeded our expectations. That evening, the Patatran hotel arranged a dinner overlooking the ocean for us, which was truly enchanting.

Over the following days, we explored the island. Grand Anse is an uncrowded beach where swimming is prohibited during certain months because of the strong currents, but its colours are always vibrant. You reach it by following a route through the heart of the island, which is well worth taking. The fourth beach we recommend is Anse Banane, where you will find both a coral reef and almost transparent water. Opposite the beach is a restaurant serving delicious food, where you can also see a Coco de Mer in person (the world's largest seed, found only in the Seychelles), with its unusual shape. All in all, we can say that when we left La Digue, we left a piece of our hearts behind.

Mahé

We spent our final day on Mahé, the largest island in the archipelago, choosing to travel there so that we would be close to the airport. We stayed at Villa Kordia. It was clean and had a garden and veranda, a very large, fully equipped kitchen, a television and Wi-Fi. We visited a nearby beach, Fairyland Beach (Relax Beach), with white sand, granite boulders and turquoise water. That evening, the owner of the villa brought us a fish dinner, and we spent our final night in the Seychelles there.

We will end our journal by highlighting the extraordinary beauty of these islands and recommending that everyone visit them for a truly unique experience.
