Packing List

What Should You Bring To The Seychelles?

You’ve got your bathing suit, but there’s that nagging feeling that you’ve forgotten something else? Then here is our recommended packing list for the Seychelles. Here you can see what documents, medicine, clothes, and other things you should bring to the Seychelles.

Documents

  • Passport
  • Travel documents (hotel voucher, transfer voucher, all confirmations that you have received from SeyVillas)
  • Driving licence
  • International certificate of vaccination (not mandatory)
  • Health insurance documents
  • Credit card(s)
  • Cash in euros
  • If you want to go scuba diving: diving certificate (if you don’t have one then you can take a diving course in the Seychelles)
Which driving licence do I need in the Seychelles?
If you want to drive a car in the Seychelles then you need to bring your national driving licence or international driving licence. You must be at least 21 years old and have owned the licence for at least one year in order to rent a car.
Where can I exchange money in the Seychelles?
We recommend taking out some money in Seychelles rupees after you arrive from an ATM. Alternatively, you can use a bureau de change. There are multiple ATMs at the airport and at various other points on all three main islands. Find out more about the topic on our page about Currency.

Clothes and Accessories

  • Bathing suit
  • Beach dress
  • Light and comfortable clothing: shorts, t-shirts, tank-tops, summer clothes etc.
  • Hat or something else to cover your head
  • Sunglasses
  • At least one smart piece of clothing for evening meals in a luxury hotel or resort
  • Flip-flops and/or sandals
  • Sports shoes (for hiking and the flight)
  • Sports clothes, if you plan on going hiking
  • Water shoes
  • Beach towel
  • UV bathing shirt (or another t-shirt to wear in the ocean)
  • Backpack or beach bag
  • Comfortable and warm clothes for the flight
  • Umbrella or rain jacket/poncho
  • Snorkelling equipment
Do I need warm clothes in the Seychelles?
No, the climate in the Seychelles is not suited to long-sleeved shirts or long trousers, even in the evenings. However, in air-conditioned rooms (e.g. the airport/airplane), it can be colder.
Do I need smart clothes in the Seychelles?
Yes, if you are eating at a luxury hotel or resort in the evenings. Normal restaurants do not have a dress code, so you can wear what you want to.
Why should I bring a UV bathing shirt?
With a shirt that has UV protection (or even a normal t-shirt), you can protect yourself from the sun even without sunscreen. This is particularly useful for snorkelling or on a boat trip.
Tip:
We recommend packing a summery outfit in your hand luggage, especially if you are travelling in winter. Therefore, you can get changed on the plane before you land in the Seychelles, without having to wear your winter clothes in the humid head of the Seychelles.

Be Sustainable

  • Bring re-usable shopping bags with you.
  • Bring your own shampoo and shower gel to avoid opening hotel products. Take these home with you as well, even if they are almost empty.
  • If you want to reduce plastic use even further, you can buy solid shampoo and shower gel and keep it in a box.
  • Use sunscreen that will not damage corals.
  • If you are going to spend plenty of time in the water (e.g. when snorkelling) then wear a long-armed UV shirt in order to reduce the amount of sunscreen that ends up in the water.
  • Avoid single-use products such as disinfectant wipes or sanitary products; instead, use re-usable alternatives (e.g. menstrual cup, washable make-up pads etc.)
